I have two questions. I am curious: Why do you go for "feminism" and not fight for "equality"? *note: no 2 words mean the exact same thing* Why do most feminists generalize all men? I'm referring to what you asked back to the other guy earlier.

1. That’s kind of like asking “Why do you support ‘gay rights’ instead of ‘sexual equality’?” Or “Why do you support ‘black empowerment’ instead of ‘racial equality’?”

Answer: Because straight people and white people don’t need to be lifted up; they’re already at the top.

You’re correct that “feminism” and “gender equality” are different rhetorically. However, social justice movements based on equality are justifiably focused on empowering the disempowered; that is, they are named after the minority group that needs more help getting to that equal status.

2. Do I hear a little “not all men” in there?? Here’s the deal: Feminists know that not every man is sexist, a rapist, etc… Obviously!

However, ALL men are empowered by their gender— socially, economically, and institutionally. When we “generalize” men as the majority group, we’re merely noting that fact.

Just some further food for thought:
Men who get defensive about their privilege in the face of feminism often fear a flip in the current hegemonic structure. In short, they fear being treated by women the way many men treat women today.

"Fuck him. Get someone that wants you enough to give you a fucking text back. You know?"
